About Me
|
I'm Aila Taylor, an environmental writer, public speaker and activist.
My work is rooted in wild places such as mountains, caves and remote landscapes. I blend nature writing with environmental awareness by exploring questions of access, collective responsibility and climate change. After starting the UK school climate strikes in 2019, I have worked with a range of organisations including the World Health Organisation, the Wellcome Trust, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Right to Roam and Campaign for National Parks. I have also worked with public figures such as Paul McCartney and Benedict Cumberbatch to draw attention to the climate catastrophe, and appeared in a variety of media including BBC Newsnight, CNN and Vogue. In addition to my activism, I am an expedition caver and canyoner, having taken part in international expeditions from the Austrian Alps to the Canadian Rockies. Ongoing expeditions allow me to explore how environmental loss is revealed in hidden places, as well as why exploration still matters in a warming world. I share the stories that emerge when people push into uncertain terrain, and the responsibility that comes with witnessing environmental change first-hand. Previously published under the name Anna Taylor, I began writing as Aila in 2024. |
