ACTIVISM

My activism covers a broad range of topics including climate justice, access rights, protected landscapes and land justice.

In 2019, I initiated the UK youth climate strikes, a grassroots movement that brought thousands of young people into collective action for climate policy change. At the same time, I co-founded the UK Student Climate Network (UKSCN), connecting thousands of student activists across the UK to organise, collaborate, and sustain momentum.

My climate work is grounded in the belief that climate justice must be inclusive, intersectional, and community-led — and that young people should have a meaningful voice in shaping the future.

All of the engagement on this page occurred under the name Anna Taylor prior to 2024.

Campaigns

UK Youth Climate Strikes
My first campaign, which I organised in 2019 alongside the founding of UK Student Climate Network. This included developing a campaign strategy, setting up and running social media channels, overseeing regional and thematic working groups, providing volunteer support, acquiring funding and forming partnerships with other organisations.

Stop the Cumbria Coal Mine
I led the regional campaign against the proposed Whitehaven coal mine whilst working at Friends of the Earth, leading to the successful cancellation of the mine. As Community Organiser for the campaign, I organised protests, community events, collaborated with partner organisations, and assisted in campaign publicity.

National Parks
I currently work as Campaigns Officer for Friends of the Lake District, running campaigns to support a more sustainable liveable future for the Lake District National Park. These include campaigns for tighter restrictions on second homes and holiday accommodation and a visitor levy. I also work on a freelance basis with Campaign for National Parks, supporting campaigns to protect national parks across the UK.

Right to Roam
I am a long-standing supporter of the Right to Roam campaign, advocating for access rights and sat on a panel on wild camping at Kendal Mountain Festival 2025.

People's Vote
I supported the People's Vote for a second referendum on Brexit. My involvement focused on bringing the voting age down to 16, and considering it as a climate vote. I attended marches and interviews to support publicity for the campaign.
