WRITING

My writing explores how people relate to landscapes, climate, and the stories we tell about our world. I blend field-tested guides, lyrical place-based essays, and deeply researched narrative nonfiction to make complex environments and social issues feel intimate, urgent, and lived-in

On Mountains.

I explore the history, culture, and ongoing debates around protected landscapes and access rights, weaving field insight with social and political context.

On Caves.

From conservation and archaeology to expedition accounts, my cave stories bring attention to environments that are often unseen yet vitally connected to surface ecosystems.

  • 'Into the Void: Exploring caves in the Austrian Alps', WildBounds Journal, September 2024.
I have also written several feature articles for Descent, the UK's national caving magazine:
  • 'Twenty Years of CHECC', Descent 290, February 2023. An exploration of the history of the Council of Higher Education Caving Clubs.
  • 'Underground Pains', Descent 295, December 2023. An extensive analysis of survey results on the experiences of menstruating cavers, along with recommendations for caving clubs and huts to improve accessibility.
